The web design process
The whole process starts with an email consultation to make sure we are a good fit for working together. I’ll send you a questionnaire that will allow me to learn more about your business’s needs and have a good idea of what you want. Even if we don’t end up working together, this exploratory phase will help you define a direction for your website.
Once you return the completed questionnaire, if we seem to be a good fit, I’ll send you a proposal and contract. The agreement will be digitally signed, so don’t worry about printing or scanning anything. Than, the first invoice is generated.
Research + Familiarize
I go over your questionnaire answers, gather visual inspiration, do some research about your niche, competitors and targeted audience. I’ll ask you some more questions as well if needed for clarity. The goals and scope of your site have to be clearly narrowed down, as well as the personality and style of the website.
Sketch interaction scenarios + Sitemap
Your site’s structure needs be carefully planned. This way, your visitors will be able to easily navigate your site, find out what they need without jumping trough hooks and be able to quickly contact you or buy from you.
Homepage concepts design
I like to start with the homepage. Once you’re happy with it, the other pages will fall into place since the homepage will set the tone for the rest of the website. The design however is quite dependent on content so at this stage, you need to provide all the content for your site’s pages.
Design + Implementation
Now it’s time to design all the pages of your site and make all the necessary implementations and tweaks. We’ll keep an open line of communication along the way, to make sure that you’re completely happy with your future website.
Publish + Celebrate
Once you’re thrilled with the result and everything functions as it should, it’s time to go live and publish your site. The final payment will be due before I hand off the website.
Time to celebrate the launch!
Maintenance + Updates
Websites need constant care and maintenance in order to keep fulfilling their purpose. It’s an ongoing process, from theme and plugin updates, backups and updating content to fixing broken links or tweaking entire pages to reflect your evolution. At a minimum, WordPress, your theme and plugins have to be kept up to date in order to avoid security issues as much as possible.
I take care of maintenance for your site as well, if you’re on a care plan.
